Okay. So, there’s this:
Daily Presidential Tracking Poll
This is where they tell us, day-by-day, what the president’s approval ratings are.
I take issue with this.
Okay, so, let us ignore who I voted for in the last election. It was either Obama or McCain, I’ll tell you that much. Now that that’s out of the way:
I take major issue with Presidential approval ratings. Why? Because the President should pay absolutely ZERO attention to public opinion.
“Oh noes, but the President is the voice of the people he should do what we want!”
a.) we elected him (or not) based on his campaign promises and platforms. He said he thought social welfare programs were more important than low taxes, and the majority agreed. Okay, so that’s it. That’s where American democracy ends. We elected a representative who we figure will do what he said he would. That’s why we care (hopefully) what the candidate’s position is on issues. Because we then vote for the candidate based on his stances.
–side note: if you don’t vote for a candidate based on the issues, you are a complete moron. And no, personality is not an issue. Go jump in a ditch and die you idiot, and don’t sully the human gene pool by reproducing.
b.) Hey, Mr. President, lemme ask you a question. Do you believe that you, and your advisers, are capable of making the best decision for America as a whole?
-i.) if yes: THEN DO YOUR JOB. I request, humbly, that you stop giving a shit about public opinion. In fact, you should not even care about my opinion on the matter. I am a nobody. If you honestly think you can do a better job than anyone, a job you were elected to do by the way, then go do it. Stop caring about public opinion, stop caring about what the American people think. Are you right? Then do it! Might you be wrong? Sure. But you know what? No one in America is going to be more right. And if they are, make that person one of your advisers.
-ii.) If no: Then I have no idea what you are doing as President and you need to resign right now and let someone confident and informed do your job.
…
Like Ron Paul.
